Food Your Miracle Medicine

This is not the same as so-called herbal teas, which are local mixtures of many different herbs and spices, and which may not have the anticancer compounds found in "real tea." Recent studies in China, Japan and the United States confirm that tea dramatically blocks development of various cancers in animals. Dr. Allan Conney of Rutgers University found that drinking green tea at concentrations normally consumed by humans blocked up to 87 percent of skin cancers, 58 percent of stomach cancers and 56 percent of lung cancers in mice.
For the first week, to rid their bodies of residual food triggers, the subjects ate a "fasting" liquid diet of herbal teas, vegetable broth, and juices from carrots, beets, celery and potatoes. For the next three to five months, they were put on a vegan diet (no animal products, including meat, fish, milk and eggs). They also avoided gluten (wheat), refined sugar, citrus fruits, strong spices and preservatives—all of which could possibly trigger symptoms.
Tea (including black, oolong and green tea, not herbal teas). Amazing and diverse pharmacological activity, mainly due to catechins. Tea acts as an anticoagulant, artery protector, antibiotic, anti-ulcer agent, cavity-fighter, antidiarrheal agent, antiviral agent, diuretic (caffeine), analgesic (caffeine), mild sedative (decaffeinated). In animals tea and tea compounds are potent blockers of various cancers. Tea drinkers appear to have less atherosclerosis (damaged, clogged arteries) and fewer strokes.

While water is extremely important in battling dehydration, it doesn't contain electrolytes, which you also lose when you become dehydrated. I know quite a few women who have conquered cervical dysplasia using herbal teas, tinctures and suppositories alone, but you can speed along the process by also taking herbal sitz baths and applying castor oil packs. These techniques are explained in "Endometriosis" on page 156. These treatments require a little extra time, but the end results are worth it. Folic acid, which is not an herb per se but is found in green, leafy vegetables, can also play a role in treating cervical dysplasia.

For most people I know who have had kidney stones, one bout was enough to persuade them to start drinking herbal teas and to make some radical changes in their diets. Unfortunately, about half the people who get kidney stones will suffer them again, along with the symptoms of sudden, sharp waves of pain, nausea and profuse sweating that accompany this problem. Severe cases are also accompanied by bleeding and, if there is an infection, even fever. As with any kidney condition, you must see your physician to determine the exact cause of your symptoms and the severity of the condition.
