Appetite control
The easiest way to understand appetite control is to look at what stimulates appetite beyond what is healthy. Obviously having some appetite is important for good health. |

Aromessence Essential Balm ($66.50for 1 ounce) contains irritating basil, bitter orange, and neroli oils and is not recommended. This very fragranced balm would make a much better candle than skin-care product! Basil oil has mutagenic properties and its active constituents (concentrated in the oil) are bad news for skin (Source: Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, 2006). |
| H-adjusting agent, preservative, and more slip agents. Can any of these ingredients protect skin from the "accelerated aging effects of all indoor and outdoor pollution," especially electromagnetic waves? Not in the least. Such logic is on par with thinking that a steady diet of cheese pizza will fulfill all of your nutritional needs. Clarins is heralding this product as a worldwide first, and it is—though that doesn't mean it's an innovative, must-have product whose time has come. Rather, it just has an eccentric, something-else-to-be-aftaid-of marketing angle. |
| Phytoactive Combination ($25for3.4 ounces) is similar to the Phytoactive Base above, but with a longer ingredient list and a different set of irritating plant extracts. It also contains a very good soothing agent, but any positive effect is canceled out by the effect of the irritating ingredients.
© Phytoactive Reactivating ($25for3.4ounces) lists alcohol as the second ingredient, and Babor recommends using it after their oily Hy-Oil cleanser. |
| This oil-based product cannot tighten pores; if anything, this much oil can lead to clogged pores, which will enlarge their appearance.
© Face Treatment Oil, Santal, for Dry or Extra Dry Skin ($44for 1.4 ounces) contains a lot of sandalwood and lavender oils, along with more fragrance and problematic fragrance components. This is akin to applying perfume to your face and is not recommended.
© $$$ Gende Day Cream, for Sensitive Skin ($55 for 1. |
| It isn't even a very good cleanser, making it a waste of time and money.
© Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream ($8 for 6 ounces) contains several problematic ingredients for skin, especially for use around the eyes, and is not recommended.
© Poison Ivy Soap ($6 for a 2-ounce bar) is standard, drying bar soap that adds irritation to its drying base thanks to pine tar and balsam leaf. Both will lessen the itch of poison ivy, but they do so as counter-irritants (meaning their stimulus is more irritating than the poison ivy itself). |
| All of these ingredients can cause irritation that can make acne look worse, although the tingling sensation from this product may convince you it's "working."
© Under-Eye Toning Gel ($35 for 0.34 ounce) has some very good, plant-based soothing agents as well as skin-identical ingredients, but the inclusion of irritating zinc sulfate and lavender oil is a mistake, not to mention the lesser amounts of peppermint, thyme, and eucalyptus. And we're supposed to apply this around the eye? Yikes!

Recent research shows that the whole rosemary herb may be an up-and-coming cancer fighter. It has been found to act as an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory, to prevent carcinogens from binding to DNA, and to stimulate liver detoxification of carcinogens. Used externally in an ointment, rosemary leaves may soothe rheumatism aches, sprains, wounds, bruises, and eczema. Taken internally, in the proper preparation, it can relieve flatulence, colic, and upset stomach.
CAUTION: rosemary can be toxic in large quantities.

It is traditionally included, together with parsley, bay leaves and rosemary, in a bouquet garni (a small bundle of herbs used to flavour a sauce or stock and tied together so that it can easily be removed before serving). So-called "mixed herbs" always include thyme. It is used to flavour Benedictine and other liqueurs. Wild thyme, known as serpolet in French, is a feature of Provencal cooking (the farigoule of Provence, used in mutton, rabbit and trout). Lemon thyme goes well with chicken, veal, potatoes and seafood.

Cultivation & harvesting rosemary is widely cultivated in kitchen gardens and market gardens. The leaves are harvested and sold fresh or may be dried and packed. Commercial cultivation is often aimed at the production of essential oil, which is widely used in cosmetics, perfumery and aromatherapy. Uses & properties Leaves are used sparingly to flavour meat dishes, especially game, grills, sausage meat, ragouts, stews, marinades, sauces, soups, salads and salad dressings. Turn it over, scatter with thyme and rosemary, and continue to roast another 40 minutes.
4. Pour the water, broth, and wine into the pan, cover with a lid or foil, and continue to cook 45 to 60 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.
5. Transfer the lamb to a plate and set aside. Pour the cooking broth (including the onions) into a large glass measuring cup. Do not clean the pan.
6. To make the gravy, skim the fat from the cooking broth (there should be 2V2 cups of broth left). Pour 1 cup of the broth into a large bowl, add the starch, and whisk to form a thin paste. |

Dick told rosemary that since her lab tests were within the normal range—as they had been all along—isolating the exact cause of her chronic exhaustion probably would be next to impossible. Even so, Dick had a hunch that Rhodiola rosea would help restore her physical and mental energy. rosemary was skeptical, but she agreed to try the herb for 2 months. After just 1 month, she reported that she had been able to finish writing an article that was long overdue. By the next month, she described feeling like her "old self" for the first time in more than 2 years. |

| Another common spice with antioxidant effects is rosemary. In one study, laboratory animals that were fed rosemary extract each day had 47 percent fewer breast tumors than a control group that didn't get the herb. Rosemary's cancer-fighting potential also seems to have something to do with its antioxidant properties.
Two other herbs that might have cancer-fighting potential are dill and caraway. Both contain a compound called d-limonene, which has been shown in animal studies to inhibit the formation of breast tumors. |

| The Galapagos finches are an excellent example of sub-species variations claimed to be different species, Jonathan Weiner, in his Pulitzer-prize winning book The Beak Of The Finch, describes researchers Peter and rosemary Grant's observations that different finch "species" do breed together and produce fertile offspring.
The second type involves chance mutations where the chromosomes suddenly double (as in plants), or change in some other way, but these mutations have never been shown to reproduce themselves into a new species. |

| Just as often, they're on the receiving end of a long series of ineffectual treatments that leave them feeling hopeless. rosemary, a 51-year-old freelance journalist, fell into this category.
When rosemary met Dick, the first words out of her mouth were "I really don't know why I'm here. I've been to internists, shrinks, nutritionists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, homeopaths—you name it. One doctor told me that I have chronic fatigue syndrome; another said that it's fibromyalgia. But no matter what treatment they prescribed, I still felt so wiped out that I couldn't think straight. |

Onions. Half an onion a day keeps stomach cancer away. That's what Dutch researchers discovered in a study of more than 120,000 men and women. Toss the pieces of squash in half the oil, place on a non-stick baking tray and sprinkle with salt (optional), pepper and rosemary. Roast the squash in the oven until tender, which will be about 40 minutes depending on size.
Meanwhile, bring a pan of salted (optional) water to the boil, add the pasta and cook until slightly softened. Drain and rinse the pasta, refill the pan with boiling water, return the pasta to the pan and cook until al dente. This method prevents it becoming too sticky. Drain the pasta and transfer it to a warm serving bowl. |

A hot infusion is prepared from about 50 g of the crude drug and is added to the bath. Lavender leaves also contain at least 1.5 % volatile oil. About 100 g of lavender leaves are used to prepare a hot infusion for adding to bathwater. |

| Sahelian's Prostate Power Rx supplement, by the way, is formulated with Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettle, rosemary, Pygeum bark, Lycopene, Genistein and other ingredients that are backed by a wealth of scientific information. Remember rosemary. The extract from this fragrant herb is such a strong preservative that it's used in the food industry to keep foods fresh. Studies have found that animals eating even small amounts of rosemary each day are protected from cancer.
"Even using just a fraction of a teaspoon of the dried leaves every day could have potential health benefits," says Chi-Tang Ho, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Food Science at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Try rosemary on chicken, potatoes and Italian foods.
