It works as well (or better) than standard antidepressants. All of this is what we should expect if standard antidepressants work only because they are expected to work. Antidepressant drugs also enjoy the benefit of a placebo effect. But physicians and psychiatrists are so convinced that antidepressants do work that a survey of all the research seems inconsistent and confusing.
